There are so many wonderful places throughout the world to travel for a vacation. Most likely if the traveller is intent on seeing some of the major sights of an area they will want to use a tourist map.
The Map Features
Maps are created by different companies. They all want to make their product better than their competitors. To do so they will add features to the map such as;
- Map Title
- Grid References
- Legend
- Direction Arrow
- Scale
Understanding what each of these are on a map will allow the user to glean more benefits from that particular map .
Keeping track on the Map
If one is using a map such as a street guide it is easy to keep referring back to the map as one proceeds to follow its directions. This is a little more difficult for those using a map that has been developed for hiking. It means following the map by perhaps landmarks. If one keeps their thumb on the area where they are at any given time it makes it much easier to continue following the map, and reduces the risk of getting lost.
